With their glossy brunette locks coiffed to perfection in matching low chignons, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark appeared to share more than just a royal status on Wednesday.
The future monarchs of Denmark were accompanied by Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as they made their way into the racing meet – in a horse and carriage of course.
The stylish pair, wearing similar floral headpieces, chatted away like old friends on the second day of racing. Australian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, 44, was dressed in an orange short-sleeved Marc Jacobs dress.
We all know the Duchess of Cambridge likes to recycle her favorite looks. In fact at a garden party in Northern Ireland yesterday she looked chic in a coat by DAY Birger et Mikkelsen which she’d first worn ten years ago.
Kate Middleton is so well known for her hats that people placed bets on her selection for the Royal Ascot. In fact, it appears that bookkeepers at William Hill bet on both Kate and Queen Elizabeth II’s choice of headwear for the evening.
So it’s no surprise that for her visit to Royal Ascot today Kate Middleton again picked a dress we’ve seen before. But Dolce & Gabbana midi is a much more recent recycle as she was spotted in it only a month ago at one of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
The Italian label is renowned for its luxurious lace creations and this full skirted dress, with its demure high neck and long sleeves, is the perfectly pretty choice for a day at the races.
